The Chill is Gone

January 29, 2024

6-10 Day Temperature Outlook: Valid: January 29-February 2, 2024 - Issued: January 23, 2024

The arctic blast is history. The sudden surge in heating demand from the January deep freeze and snow has been replaced with mild temperatures in all retail markets served by ENGIE Resources.  2023 was the warmest year on record for the U.S. according to NOAA, NASA and other sources. The 10 warmest years since 1850 have all occurred in the past decade. In fact, the average global temperature for 2023 exceeded the pre-industrial (1850–1900) average by 2.43 degrees F (1.35 degrees C).

NOAA predicts a one-in-three chance that 2024 will be warmer than 2023, and a 99% chance that 2024 will rank among the top five warmest years.
