May 20, 2015
PJM said there will be adequate electricity available during the hottest days this summer, even as some power plants have been retired. The grid operator expects peak demand to reach 155,279 MW this year, and said it has a total of 177,650 MW available if needed, a reserve margin of about 21 percent; a cushion of about 16 percent is required. PJM also said there are about 8,500 MW of demand response available.
