GDF SUEZ Subsidiary Partners with Comverge to Offer Demand Response Products

Products offer price incentives to customers who opt for energy load reductions

HOUSTON – October 26, 2009 – GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, the retail energy business of GDF SUEZ Energy North America, has announced an alliance with Comverge, Inc. (Nasdaq: COMV), a leading clean energy company. The relationship enables GDF SUEZ Energy Resources to offer its commercial and industrial customers Demand Response services that can facilitate curtailed energy usage and lower total energy costs.

“This relationship allows us to offer businesses a broader, more complete range of products to meet their energy needs,” said Bob Wilson, President and CEO, GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA. “Our company continuously strives to provide the best possible product offerings to our customers, and Comverge offers Demand Response solutions that work to reduce energy costs for customers in each of the deregulated markets we serve.”

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources and Comverge will offer Demand Response solutions in the ERCOT, NEPOOL, NYISO and PJM territories. Additional markets and products are being explored. Demand Response is one of several sustainability products that GDF SUEZ Energy Resources is developing and delivering in conjunction with best-in-class companies such as Comverge.

“Expanding our relationship with GDF SUEZ Energy Resources demonstrates their continued confidence in Comverge to deliver innovative solutions to our most complex energy issues—helping customers manage their energy costs and improving grid reliability,” said George Hunt, Comverge Senior Vice President of Sales.

“This alliance allows us to bring our Demand Response services to GDF SUEZ customers in PJM and offer them the same benefits their counterparts in ERCOT, NEPOOL and NYISO have had access to through this program since 2008.”

Comverge’s product offerings include both temporary and permanent load reduction alternatives. Temporary load reduction products lower a customer’s energy load during peak demand hours or in the event of a grid emergency by temporarily curtailing the customer’s load or using standby generators. Permanent load reduction products provide long-term efficiency improvements from smart energy management practices. Both offerings reduce the amount of energy used by the customer, helping to lower electricity bills and alleviate stress on the grid.

GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA is the second largest non-residential retail energy supplier in the U.S. and currently serves commercial and industrial customers in 11 markets: Delaware, Texas, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Connecticut, and Washington, D.C. The company serves over 50,000 accounts for customers having a peak demand ranging from 50 KW to more than 200 MW, with an estimated peak load totaling over 8,000 MW.
