GDF SUEZ Energy Resources Powers Globalcon Conference & Expo with Renewable Energy Certificates for Sixth Consecutive Year

PHILADELPHIA, PA – March 10, 2015 – GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, a leader in U.S. retail energy, is continuing its support of the Association of Energy Engineers’ (AEE) commitment to sustainable development by supplying renewable energy certificates (RECs) to the 2015 Globalcon Conference & Expo. The event will be held on March 17-18 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

This is the sixth consecutive year the retail electricity provider will supply a quantity of certificates, which will be Green-e® Energy Certified, targeted to match the electricity that will be consumed during the conference and expo. A Green-e® Certified REC represents the environmental attributes of electricity generated from wind, solar, or other renewable generation facilities that meet certain vintage and production standards.

J.D. Burrows, Vice President of Marketing for the retail electricity provider, said supplying the RECs underscores the shared commitment of both AEE and GDF SUEZ Energy Resources to foster the development of domestic sources of renewable energy.

“Leveraging RECs to offset indirect greenhouse gas emissions encourages a sustainable future by broadening the use of clean energy,” explained Burrows. “We’re dedicated to building strategies that achieve environmental priorities while balancing fiscal and operational objectives. We’re proud to back organizations like AEE that recognize the importance of promoting renewable energy consumption.”

“We appreciate GDF SUEZ Energy Resources for continuing to back our efforts to keep environmental responsibility and energy management best practices at the forefront of discussions surrounding corporate sustainability strategies,” said AEE Executive Albert Thumann. “In fact, this year’s conference will feature several discussions on leading technology and services related to renewables, alternative energy, and onsite generation.”

Globalcon is aimed at business, industry, and government leaders who are seeking energy solutions that assure a safe, secure power supply and effective management of costs. Attendees can visit the GDF SUEZ Energy Resources booth, No. 413, to learn how the company can assist them with strategies for mitigating commodity market risks, managing demand and consumption, and maximizing the opportunities in a competitive energy marketplace.

This renewable energy supply is part of a larger, comprehensive energy procurement engagement in which GDF SUEZ will provide electricity to all of MetroNational’s facilities over a multi-year period. “We conducted a highly competitive bidding process, beginning with 14 retail suppliers and over 90 price points, and GDF SUEZ emerged as the best suited supplier for MetroNational based on their competitive pricing, products, and transactional capabilities,” said Jeff Shoaf, Senior Vice President of Amerex Energy Services.
