GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA Offers VRewards to Help Commercial and Industrial Customers Save Energy and Money

HOUSTON – August 18, 2015 – GDF SUEZ Energy Resources NA, a leader in U.S. retail energy, announced today the launch of VRewards, a free, voluntary demand response program that gives commercial and industrial customers the power to reduce power consumption and save on energy costs during periods of peak demand. At times, the most valuable electrons are those never consumed. This new program provides customers with the information needed to make these important decisions and in so doing reduce their electricity costs.

Customers of GDF SUEZ Energy Resources whose peak demand ranges between 500 kW and 3 MW of electricity per month are automatically eligible to participate. Businesses can enroll through an easy-to-use online form, which also provides access to advanced weather and price forecasting tools.

JD Burrows, Vice President of Marketing for GDF SUEZ Energy Resources, said the program represents an opportunity for customers to join a growing movement toward environmental conservation, while earning money in the process.

“Through VRewards, customers receive the insight and intelligence they need to make more informed curtailment decisions, with the flexibility to adjust consumption based on their specific operational requirements,” he explained. “In addition, they get a reward for participating and – because they use less electricity during peak periods – they can save money on their electricity bill. It’s a win-win by just about any standard.”

Customers enrolled in VRewards receive advance notice in the morning of when a peak event is forecasted to occur along with an estimate of how long it will last. Participation is voluntary, allowing enrolled consumers to adjust consumption through a range of methods – from turning off non-critical systems to changing the thermostat – that support their particular business objectives. In addition to cost savings from reduced energy usage, VRewards gives customers a credit of up to $500 for every megawatt hour of energy they are able to reduce during a peak event.

The only requirements are that businesses have a fixed-price contract and an interval or smart meter. No equipment, technology, software downloads, regulatory programs, new contracts, or changes to existing agreements are necessary to participate.
